Info - Pump Shafts & Nozzles
Topic: What should I know about them?
Well, they changed over the years. The early 50 hp bikes had a the shortest pump shaft and a nozzle with a pronounced face on it. If you try to use this nozzle on newer bikes, then it will come into contact with the impeller.
Somewhere along the line the shaft got a little longer. The benefit of this is that it moved the leading edge of the impeller out of the pump housing and into the wear ring. I believe they also changed the front end of the shaft and moved from a nut to a bolt.
The final design is the longest shaft out there. I don't know when they went to this one or why.
How Can I Tell Them Apart?
